My first question for the developers at Mystique at Pelican Bay before they released any floor plans or photos was: “Is Mystique going to have a contemporary feel?” I let out a huge sigh when I learned that Pelican Bay was going to be a new ultra luxury high rise with a very modern feel.
Most homes in Naples, and Pelican Bay in particular, are villas and high-rises that feature Tuscan or Mediterranean architecture. I lovingly call it “Hail Caesar” with its many columns and curved archways. Don’t get me wrong; these luxury estate homes are beautiful, elegant and highly sought after. But with the younger, Baby Boomer buyers there is a complete shift. The demand is now for sleek, clean lines. Contemporary or Coastal is very very hot right now. Most of the new homes in the Moorings, Aqualane Shores, Port Royal and Olde Naples prove my point. Med is Dead.
Few of the 31 high rise buildings in Pelican Bay have a contemporary look so the news that Mystique would appeal to younger, high end buyers seeking an easy lifestyle in a high rise but with a modern feel is very exciting. Higher ceilings. Check. Floor to ceiling glass. Check. i-Pads instead of keys. Check.
